Several Exciting Changes for the 2016 Veterans Day Parade to be Held in Downtown Boise on Saturday, November 5th
The Boise Veterans Day Parade will be held on Saturday, November 5th this year, with several exciting changes in store. The 2016 parade will include a performance of the national anthem on the Capitol steps prior to the parade, a new starting point for the procession, and military flyovers.
This year’s parade will be kicked off with the singing of the national anthem on the Capitol steps by Idaho Army National Guard Staff Sergeant Laura Davis. Following that performance, the national colors will be presented, and A-10 Warthogs will perform a flyover. The parade will now begin at 8th and Jefferson Streets. This new starting point will allow the parade entries to coordinate with the color guard leaving the Capitol steps. The parade route will proceed east to 4th Street, turn south to Bannock Street, and then return west to 11th Street.
This year’s parade will once again be broadcast live by KTVB-TV Channel 7 for its entire duration. At the conclusion of the parade, there will be a flyover by Blackhawk helicopters.
In order to recognize sacrifices and honor the service of all Armed Forces veterans of the United States of America, and heighten community understanding and appreciation of the value of military service to the nation the Boise Veterans Day Parade Committee plans, organizes, and conducts the Veterans Day Parade in Boise, Idaho. The parade is conducted annually on the immediate Saturday before November 11.
The Veterans Day Parade Committee is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. All donations are tax deductible. The committee is registered with the Idaho Secretary of State as an incorporated non-profit organization.
There are three ways to support the parade: (1) Come downtown to view the parade as a spectator; (2) Volunteer to help with the parade, either on parade day or as part of the parade committee; and/or (3) Make a monetary donation to the parade.
