IDAHO BOTANICAL GARDEN WINTER CONSERVATION

Conservation efforts at the Idaho Botanical Gardens

Idaho Botanical Garden
The Idaho Botanical Garden acts on its dedication to resource conservation through a variety of methods. This winter, the Garden grows plants for several restoration projects including that of the Bureau of Land Management and one managed by the Golden Eagle Audubon Society at Blacks Creek Important Bird Area. Plants grown include the globally rare Packard’s milkvetch, which will be used in Boise City’s Table Rock fire restoration project and by the US Fish and Wildlife Service.

All the plants grown for these restoration projects originate from southwest Idaho native plant seeds, including those collected by IBG Botanits, Ann DeBolt, and Dick and Sandy Smith, while they worked for the Seeds of Success program, in partnership with Idaho BLM.
